Andrea wasn’t aware that helping to weave a loved one’s coffin was something that she and her family were able to do together. When referred to us by Nigel K. Ford Funeral Directors, Andrea commented “it sounded like a lovely thing to do.”
Andrea found her first experience of helping to weave her stepfather’s coffin incredibly comforting, and later returned to Musgrove Willows with her family to weave a coffin for her mum.
“It was such a calming experience, especially at such an emotional time. We were made to feel so welcome, and our weaver was such a lovely person and very respectful – as was everyone working around us.”
As they worked, Andrea and her family spoke with our weaver about memories of her mum – which made her feel closer to her. Our weaver made them feel very comfortable, “he was so intuitive and felt like another member of the family”.
Andrea summed up their experience as: “Comforting, therapeutic, and reassuring. We weaved our love into the coffin, and we did it as a family. It was a chance to do one last thing for mum.”
